AbstractEnergy conservation for a subway system can be achieved through implementation of regenerative braking. In the context of natural receptivity, the regenerated energy may be used to supply the power need of nearby trains. Minimization of effective energy usage is examined and such optimal modes of operation of an individual train between a pair of stations are derived for various degrees of regeneration. © 1984 Science Press.
