AbstractA temperature-controlled system of PCR chips for DNA amplification which possesses the characteristics of low cost and high controlling precision is developed by using digital-circuit temperature-controlled technique based on microcontroller, PWM technique and PID temperature-controlled algorithm. The experimental results show that this system can well perform cycling control between different temperatures (37°C, 55°C, 72°C and 94°C) required for PCR chips and its controlling precision is ±0.1°C. The thermoelectric cooler is used as thermal generator and a heat sink (by controlling the polarity of supply power) and rise/fall rates of temperature are 4°C/s and 2.2°C/s respectively.
