AbstractThe present study tackles the broad range of research activities seeking to provide theoretical foundations and software engineering tools to help control engineers understand and overcome challenges in building computer-controlled devices. In general, two current international research areas are considered; (a) the creation of object-oriented engineering environments for implementing component-based systems and (b) a focus on the creation of tools to support design and implementation of hybrid control systems.
