AbstractA novel technique for time-division-multiplexing of femtosecond laser pulses has been developed. Optical pulse trains of up to 80 Gb/s were produced and used to trigger picosecond photoconductive switches incorporated in a coplanar waveguide transmission line. Electrical pulses at ultrahigh repetition rates were generated and detected with the correlation sampling technique. Propagation characteristics of the signal along the waveguide were studied.
