AbstractBefore constructing a new public transportation pivotal facility, an important problem is to estimate and analyze the market share or attracting area of this transportation facility. In this paper, a multi-class continuous equilibrium model is given and proved to satisfied user equilibrium condition and other constraint conditions. The case of traveler choice behavior is considered. An efficient iterative method using finite element technique is proposed. The optimal model can be solved by this method. Finally, a numerical example is illustrated to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methodology. © 2009 IEEE.
