Abstract | Classical elasticity methods for the analysis of prismatic folded plates are generally well recognised. But when it comes to the analysis of non-prismatic folded plates, the finite element method is undoubtedly most appropriate because of its versatility of modelling the irregular geometric shapes and boundary conditions. This paper describes the derivation and formulation of a series of sub-parametric higher order flat shell elements which are particularly suitable for applying in the analysis of non-prismatic folded plate structures. |
