Conference Paper: ALGORITHM DESIGN FOR RELIABLE DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS.
Title | ALGORITHM DESIGN FOR RELIABLE DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS. |
---|---|
Authors | |
Issue Date | 1983 |
Abstract | The concept of distributed processing is among the least understood subjects of computer science. This research has been directed towards the deriving of a thorough understanding of distributed systems in general and distributed algorithms in particular. Such an understanding is essential and it forms the basis for the pursuit of effective design. The authors' design of a distributed system exhibits a departure from the tradition. Among the many functions that are supported in such a system, they choose resource management as their handle for evaluation. Many subtle problems are shown to exist in the design and implementation of this chosen function; among them, they found the configuration problem worthy of study and propose algorithms for its solutions. |
