Anaerobic treatment of agricultural and industrial wastewater

Abstract

Anaerobic biological processes have been recognized in recent years as a viable means for agricultural and industrial wastewater treatment. This is mainly due to the development of several new reactor designs, as well as a better fundamental understanding of the anaerobic technology. This article discusses both of these areas and presents case studies for illustration. Some industries in Hong Kong, including livestock farms and food processing plants, are likely to find this technology attractive.
