Abstract | Finite element techniques are applied to circular and annular laminated plate problems. The first element is an annular sector element with four nodes and has twenty-eight degrees of freedom. By modifying the displacement functions of the first element, it is possible to formulate a circular sector element with twenty-seven degrees of freedom. Since laminate properties and transverse shear strain energy are included in the stiffness formulation, the elements can be used for the analysis of moderately thick laminated or sandwich plates.
