Abstract | In this paper, we propose a current control methodology for the boost PFC converter based on sliding mode control theory. The resulting control is very general in the sense that it provides input current tracking under all practical conditions by systematically including all necessary control functions that compensate for the possible nonlinearity such as the zero-crossing distortion in high line frequency condition. By choosing suitable state control variables and a proper sliding surface, the derivation arrives at a feedforward control which is similar to a previously proposed method. The implementation takes the form of a typical pulse-width modulation (PWM) control. It can be designed either as an individual current controller or as feedforward control applied to a standard PFC controller. ©2008 IEEE. |
