AbstractThe A 2Π-X 2Σ (1,1) band of ZrN between 5642 and 5879 Å has been studied using laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy. ZrN was produced by reacting vaporized ZrCl 4 with microwave discharged N 2 gas. All the 12 branches expected from a 2Π- 2Σ transition have been observed and assigned. Various perturbations in the 2Π 3/2 substate υ = 1 level have been found, in which the one at J = 38.5 is ascribed to a degenerate state. The magnetic hyperfine structure of the 91ZrN has also been identified. A least-squares fit up to J = 30.5 yielded molecular constants for both the A 2Π and the X 2Σ states of four isotopic molecules, © 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
