Abstract | Smart POMs: A surfactant-encapsulated organic-grafted polyoxometalate (POM) is synthesized by grafting a photoresponsive azobenzene group to an Anderson-type POM cluster. Self-assemblies of the hybrid complexes exhibit photocontrolled reversible aggregation and morphological change as a result of photoisomerization-induced structural alternation (see figure).
