AbstractBased on the vertical point solution of multilayered elastic medium, this paper presents a method for the elastic analysis of axially loaded single pile in layered soils. The method is easily incorporated into a computational scheme for accurate numerical analysis and prediction of the pile behavior under loading. The results of the method are compared well with the existing solutions in the literature. A parametric study for a six-layered elastic soil is further presented to show the effects of layered soils on the behavior of a single pile. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
