Abstract | Quality and productivity are closely related, because defects and rework cause losses in money and production time. We cannot separate the quality system from the manufacturing system, because every person and every process affects the quality of the final product. This article shows how a manufacturing company was successfully transformed as the result of the development and implementation of a new manufacturing system (containing a quality system), whereby quality, productivity and working efficiency were improved. Since normal production was not stopped during the process of system change, this transformation took more than two years. Miracles cannot be expected overnight; a long-term commitment is required to achieve good quality, high productivity and competitiveness in business. |
