Abstract | This paper analyzes the technical aspects of Biomass Gasification Methanol Synthesis System (BGMSS) and provides key technologies for the design of processes such as gasification, gas cleaning, methanol synthesis and matching characteristic of whole system. Based on literature and experimental data, the prospects of future production of methanol from biomass in China are evaluated and several possible pathways are put forwarded. The present work on biomass to methanol process, carried out by Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), is introduced. Preliminary results indicated that BGMSS technology has great prospect in China provided that existing problems can be solved. |
