AbstractPP resin doped with pimelic acid, sodium pimelate, calcium pimelate or pimelic acid/calcium stearate was crystallized in DSC, compression molding and injection molding. The effect of the additives on formation of β-phase PP crystals was examined with DSC and WAXS. Pimelic acid alone could not stimulate any β-growth, while sodium pimelate, calcium pimelate and pimelic acid/calcium stearate were very effective. In particular, resin doped with pimelic acid/calcium stearate would produce consistent amount of β-phase even after repeated molding processes under similar conditions.
