AbstractThree-dimensional long waves-short waves interactions are studied by a model system of coupled nonlinear Schrodinger and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equations. Such long-short resonance is relevant in the interactions of surface and internal waves in a two-layer model of the ocean. A one soliton solution is obtained by the bilinear transform. The modulational instability of the plane wave is investigated by Fourier analysis.
