Dr Kiang, Mei Yee Karrie 江美怡
Dr Karrie MY Kiang graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia, with a first-class honors degree in Medical Science. She obtained her Ph.D. in neuro-oncology from the University of Hong Kong, and received her postdoctoral training with a research focus on therapeutic resistance in glioblastoma in the University of Hong Kong. During which she has also been trained in the Brain tumor center of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, USA.
Her research interest is the identification of molecular alterations that drive cancer relapse, finding new ways to tackle drug resistance and focuses on translating these findings into clinical application using advanced technology. She is currently focusing on understanding the molecular basis in cancer metabolism, in particular the mechanisms that contribute to therapeutic resistance. Dr Kiang and colleagues identified metabolic vulnerabilities and provided the scientific rationale to develop therapeutic strategies to specifically target cancer cells.
