Dr Choi, Wai Man 蔡惠敏
Dr. Anna Wai-man CHOI, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work and Social Administration, The University of Hong Kong: Anna is a Registered Social Worker (RSW), Accredited Family Mediator (HKMAAL) and Specialist (HKCAAVQ). Anna specializes in intimate partner violence, including violence against women, women using force, post-separation violence and in-law conflict. She particularly interested in the understanding of the help-seeking behaviours and the development of localized strategies, especially in the view of cultural contexts and gender-based practice, for addressing the needs of survivors and promoting their recovery. Anna obtained the General Research Fund from the Research Grants Council to study the women use of force in intimate relationship in 2016 and the male victims of intimate partner violence in 2014, and also conducted an evaluation study on children’s dispute resolution which was commissioned by the Judiciary in 2013. In addition, she was previously the center-in-charge of a refuge centre for abused women in Hong Kong. She has tremendous experience in handling family cases and addressing the needs of families with violence. Over the past ten years, she has been invited to be a trainer in clinical workshops and trainings for social workers in family and crisis services of different welfare agencies.
