Objectives
1) To study the production of carbon dioxide and methane from selected sub-aerially exposed siliciclastic-dominated shelves and oceanic islands during glacial periods since 0.75 Ma; 2) to study the production of carbon dioxide and methance from selected sub-aerially exposed carbonate-dominated shelves and oceanic islands during glacial periods since 0.75 Ma; 3) to examine the contribution of carbon dioxide and methane from sub-aerially exposed shelves and oceanic islands to the record seen in Antarctica ice cores; 4) to evaluate the implications of the findings.
