Objectives
The present proposal will involve both quantitative and qualitativeanalysis at different levels; at the macro-level, the study will differentiate the effective schools from the rest; at the school level, it will examine how students' learning and behaviour are affected by their learning attitudes and strategies, teachers' teaching strategies, classroom atmosphere, school regulations and policies, management practice, leadership style and school climate; it will explore the concept of effectiveness in the Hong Kong context and investigate and understand the unfluence of culture (in the broad sense of the word) on local schools.
