To study whether fetal cardiac size and placental thickness are increased in the first trimester in pregnancies affected by homozygous [alpha]-thalassaemia-1; to study whether vaginal ultrasonography is useful in detecting pregnancies affected by homozygous [alpha]-thalassaemia-1 in the first tirmester.
