Objectives
To examine the map using competency of geography students at different levels in the secondary school. The first phase, which was completed in 1986 and was reported at the I.G.U. meeting at Sitges, looked at students' ability to conceptualize a map. The present phase is looking at higher order interpretive skills in Forms 6 and 7, and at the attitudes of teachers to mapwork in the teaching of geography. Fieldwork was completed in 1987.
