Objectives
To advance the technology of computer input of data printed in Chinese in a manner that is both efficient and convenient. Despite the existence of many (but cumbersome) coding schemes for inputting information in Chinese, it is still a chore to enter large quantity of data manually through the keyboard. It would be a great step forward for the Chinese information processing technology if printed Chinese characters can be imputted by a scanner and recognized by the computer directly.
