Objectives
To delineate the tissue and species variation in ketone (haloperidol) reductase activity and to screen the local Chinese population for genetic polymorphism in the metabolism of haloperidol. Anecdotal reports suggested that the Chinese patients required a much lower dose of haloperidol to attain the desired therapeutic effect. A knowledge of the metabolic pattern of haloperidol in the H.K. population will be of value in the effective clinical usage of haloperidol and related compounds.
