Objectives
To examine existing models and to propose a new model for predicting the direct and diffuse components of solar irradiation, where such components are not separately measured: correlations are sought, of a universal nature, based on the measured atmospheric transmission coefficient (clearness index), or alternatively, on measured sunshine duration. Such information is essential for predicting concentrating photovoltaic solar-converter performance.
