Objectives
To simplify the technique for quantitation of globin genes; to identify the specific a gene mutants responsible for [beta] thalassemia in Chinese by direct synthetic oligonucleotide probe analysis; to clone and sequence two abnormal [alpha] globin genes responsible for sever nondeleton [alpha] thalassemia and four new [beta] thalassemia mutants in the Chinese; to determine the restriction fragment length polymorphsim associated with haemophilia and Christmas Disease in Chinese.
