Objectives
To raise murine monoclonal antibodies specific for the lipopolysaccharides of serogroups B, C1, and E Salmonella; together with the murine monoclonal antibodies already produced and characterized to be specific for the Vi and O antigens of serogroups A, C2, and D Salmonella, to investigate if the murine monoclonal antibodies to the Salmonella O factors and Vi antigen can be used to replace the conventional polyclonal O factor and Vi specific antisera for the seroplogical typing of Salmonella; to study the possibility of applying these murine monclonal antibodies to detect Salmonella in selective enrichment broth cultures; to study the feasibility of applying these murine monoclonal antibodies to detect Salmonella directly in clinical specimens or food products.
