Objectives
(1) Objectives: The aims of this study are (1) to understand the experience of cancer survivors participating in the cancer survivorship care program and (2) to identify perceptions of barriers and facilitators to learn and apply the taught skills in managing symptom distress and in adopting lifestyle modifications. (2) Hypothesis to be tested: NA (3) Design and subjects: A qualitative study design will be used to address the study objectives. Chinese patients, without metastatic disease, having completed primary and adjuvant treatment within the past six months and who had participated our existing pilot cancer survivorship care program will be recruited to join the proposed study. Purposive sampling will be used to recruit 60 participants with a mixture of sample having various levels of symptom distress and healthy lifestyle risk. (4)Instruments: Individual face-to-face semi-structured interview will be used to collect narrative data. (5) Intervention: NA (6) Main outcome measures: Narrative data (7) Data analysis: Narrative data will be analyzed and coded using grounded theory technique. (8) Expected results: The findings of the proposed study will enable us to identify and optimize a cancer survivorship care programme that is locally relevant and can support affected individuals to regain normal life and establish a healthy lifestyle. The evidence gathered from the proposed study will facilitate the refinement of the cancer survivorship care intervention which is crucial before we proceed to evaluate its effectiveness.
