1 To contribute knowledge to the sociology of sexuality by investigating the lived experiences of older lesbians (aged 60 and above) in three predominantly ethnic Chinese societies; namely, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. 2 To develop a comparative framework for understanding the issues of ageing and lesbian sexualities among older lesbians in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. 3 To describe and explain older lesbian sexualities by collecting empirical data with an emphasis on sex and intimacy, among other ageing concerns. 4 To examine the relationship between colonial histories, postcolonialism and same-sex sexualities in improving our understanding of older lesbian sexualities.
