Objectives
1 To investigate the functional role and underlying molecular signaling pathways of COX-1 in the pathogenesis of liver injury in both acute and chronic liver injury animal models. 2 To evaluate the source of functional COX-1, whether it is produced in situ in the liver or induced by systemic inflammation processes. 3 To investigate whether there is a compensatory functional mechanism between COX-1 and COX-2 and the possible clinical application of COX inhibitors in treating both acute and chronic liver injury.
