Objectives
1 To compare the effect of skin surface stimulation of voice-related acupoints with that on non-acupoints and non-voice-related acupoints on two primary outcome measures of vocal measures (voice range profile and perceptual voice quality) in individuals with phonotraumatic voice disorders. 2 To determine the effectiveness of the complementary use of a home-based skin-surface stimulation of voice-related acupoints (Home AcuStim) in extending the benefit of verum acupuncture on the two primary outcome measure of vocal measures (voice range profile and perceptual voice quality) and three secondary outcomes measures (laryngoscopic findings, anti-inflammatory cytokine markers and voice-related quality of life) over time (maintenance effect).
