Objectives
1) Examine how members of the academic profession in Hong Kong, especially junior academics, are responding to the glacial shifts in higher education since 2007, including Hong Kong’s curriculum and structural reform, and increase in non-local students and international students. 2) Construct a conceptual model on the impact of academics’ personal characteristics and institutional factors upon academics’ psychological well-being (specifically, occupational stress and job satisfaction) and organizational commitment, as mediated by their teaching, research, and knowledge exchange activities. 3) Identify where the Hong Kong academic profession is situated within the larger context of the global academy over the period of the three international surveys (1993, 2007, 2016) in comparison with the other participating countries/jurisdictions.
