Objectives
1) To elucidate the comparative development processes of the fashion industries in China and Korea. 2) To juxtapose relevant theories in anthropology, media and cultural studies, and sociology using data collected through interviews with Korean and Chinese creative industry participants and fashion consumers. 3) To explain why Korea’s cultural and creative development in general and fashion, media, and entertainment industries in particular are perceived as more trendsetting, creative, and effective than their Chinese counterparts. 4) To open up debate over the meaning of success for the creative industries of Korea and China. 5) To identify research methods appropriate to study of the ecosystem of East Asia’s fashion and creative industries.
