Objectives
1) determine the residence times (RTs) of hyporheic zones (HZs) under various conditions through numerical simulations; 2) derive mathematical function(s) to describe the relationship between RTs and their various governing factors, based on simulation results and an extensive literature search; 3) couple the RT function(s) into a stream routing model; 4) evaluate the effectiveness of different stream rehabilitation designs in restoring hyporheic zone using the coupled model at both reach and catchment scale.
