Objectives
1 To study and elucidate the mechanism of this O- to C-boron rearrangement and characterize the species involved. 2 To study the addition of B2pin2 and other bisboron species 3 To study the scope of unsaturated esters and amide substrates for synthesizing the O-boron enolate, and rearranging to the C-boron enolate. 4 To examine the scope of the phosphines or other additives to promote the O- to C-boron enolate rearrangement. 5 To study the asymmetric rearrangement of O- to C-boron enolates 6 To study the functionalizations of the C-B bonds of C-boron enolates to C-O, C-N and C-C bonds.
