Objectives
1 To determine radioisotopic ages for the Mesozoic fossils and dinosaur tracks from the Shandong Peninsula and constrain the duration of the Laiyang and its overlying Qingshan and Wangshi Groups. 2 To establish the stratigraphic correlations among Cretaceous basins in North China and understand the development of Cretaceous sedimentary basins in the Shandong Peninsula. 3 To test biogeographic hypothesis for the distribution of hadrosaurid dinosaurs and the hypothesis for the Jehol radiation. 4 To train graduate students and to introduce undergraduates the basic concepts of radioisotopic dating.
