Abstract | This lecture will examine three advanced quantitative research methods in the field of social sciences. We will first discuss event/experience sampling methodology (ESM), which allows researchers to study on ongoing events/experiences moment by moment in a natural environment. We will next talk about the use of multilevel analysis—including in ESM—in which variables from more than one levels (e.g., individual-level and cultural/societal level) can be modelled. We will also introduce the state-of-the-art big data analysis and the guest lecturer will share his own experience of doing big data analysis in the US. |
