Abstract | Wearable technology is one of the hottest areas in both research and technological innovation. The next generation of personal electronic devices are generally anticipated to be directly wearable by the user. Robotics, bridging the gap between the cyber world and the physical world, will undoubtedly play an important role in the emerging trend of wearable devices. We are devoted to pursuit soft-robotic solutions to this application. Using soft material pneumatic-driven robotic technology, we could combine complex and multiple degrees-of-freedom motions into simple mechanical structures, while offering inherent compliance and high power-weight ratio while dramatically bringing down the system complexity and cost for end users. Soft robotics have the potential to bring paradigm shifts to robotics in terms of user interaction and control. The wide targeted application fields cover healthcare (surgical and rehabilitation), entertainment, domestic service, etc. |
