Objectives
Hong Kong society has been rocked by the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill (Anti-ELAB) movement since June 2019. The overarching aims of the proposed project are to (a) unveil the psychological mechanisms that foster resilience to this unprecedented social incident, and (b) launch a new support platform—Mind Soul Fueling Station (心靈加油駅)—to bolster resilience and mental well-being in the general public, young people in particular. The specific aims of the project are threefold. First, Study 1 aims to examine the mechanisms hypothesized to promote resilience to societal turmoil. Second, Study 2 seeks to verify the proposed model with resilient copers identified during an earlier phase of the Anti-ELAB movement. Third, grounded in these findings, Study 3 aims to design and evaluate an evidence-based platform for delivering mental first aid to Hong Kong residents.
