Objectives
1) To develop novel systemic multi-levelled SimaPro-based models for achieving more reliable and valid estimations of the ‘cradle-to-end of construction’ embodied carbon emissions of prefabricated high-rise public residential buildings in Hong Kong at the levels of material, component, assembly, flat and building; 2) To establish and test a smart-tech platform that integrates IoT technologies for automated data collection, and APIs for data transfer and conversion among IoT, BIM and SimaPro, for achieving better quality carbon data and more efficient emission estimations; 3) To develop systemic emission KPIs at the five levels of prefabrication by utilizing the models and smart-tech platform, and then validate the KPIs in multiple building projects to achieve meaningful benchmarking of embodied carbon emissions.
