Objectives
1 quantitatively determine the transcriptional level gene abundance of nitrate production by ammonia-oxidizing bacteria and archaea, and also nitrate consumption by denitrifying and Anammox bacteria; 2 obtain the microbial community and composition using Next Generation Sequencing; and 3 measure the relative contribution to the overall N2 produced by denitrifying and Anammox process specifically using stable isotope N-15 addition and analysis.
