Objectives
Developing effective vaccines represents one of the solutions for controlling human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). We have developed a novel PD-1-based DNA vaccine against HIV. In a pilot study, it protected rhesus macaques from simianhuman immunodeficiency virus (SHIV) infection. Here we will explore the immune mechanisms how our vaccine induces protection. We will also optimize the vaccine design to improve its efficacy.
