Objectives
1. To read out the memory that is inscribed into the unconscious rat brain, in a behavioural context. 2 . To examine whether high-frequency stimulation in the thalamus induces LTP in the cingulate cortex, and whether local infusion of CCK antagonists affects the cortical LTP in the anesthetized rat. 3 . To investigate whether entorhinal CCK neurons that project to the neocortex are glutamatergic and whether high-frequency stimulation can induce CCK release and LTP in the neocortex. 4 . To investigate the conditions for LTP induction in a single pairing of pre- and postsynaptic activities in the presence of CCK in cultured cortical neurons with patch-clamp recording. 5 . To determine the conditions under which local application of CCK to specific neurons with subcellular resolution is able to selectively regulate inter-neuronal connectivity in a network composed of a group of neuron assemblies.
