AbstractCulture and language characteristics are important to the perception of mental illnesses and their treatment in the Asian Context. Some key issues about how language relevant to mental illness are reviewed using examples from Hong Kong. The impact of their use are discussed in the wider context of public awareness approaches for psychosis in order to facilitate early detection.
