AbstractThe research background of Free Flight is discussed, the substance of the conflict detection and resolution in Free Flight based on genetic algorithms is studied, and a mathematical model is constructed in the paper. The emulation results of applications show that the genetic algorithms is suitable and positive to detect and resolute the conflict in Free Flight. The flight courses of aircrafts, which are as close as possible to the theoretical direct flight course of the least-fuelconsumption, can be generated by genetic algorithms. © 2009 IEEE.
