AbstractThis paper proposes a new pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technique for the electromagnetic interference (EMI) mitigation of the bidirectional grid-connected converter, which is aiming to improve the power quality of power grids and the working environment of electric vehicles (EVs), as well as the implementability especially for high-frequency applications. Due to the frequent energy exchange in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) systems, the EV electromagnetic environment becomes increasingly complex, which may impair the normal operation of various auxiliary electronic devices and hence reduce the stability of EVs. Additionally, the conducted EMI deteriorates the power supply quality in the power grid. In this paper, a PWM-based EMI mitigation technique is proposed for the bidirectional grid-connected converter to suppress exaggerated peaky EMI and evenly distribute the harmonics over a wide frequency range, thereby improving the electromagnetic compatibility of the grid-connected converter. Also, the simulation and experiment are both conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed PWM-based EMI mitigation technique for the V2G bidirectional grid-connected power converter.
