AbstractIn the as-quenched condition, the microstructure of the Fe28.6Mn9.8Al0.8Si1.0C alloy is a single austenite phase. When the as-quenched alloy was aged at 600°C for short times, fine K-phase carbides were observed to precipitate only within the austenite matrix. However, with prolonged aging at 600°C, coarse K-phase carbides began to appear on the γ/γ grain boundaries and twin boundaries. Subsequently, the coarse K-phase carbides grew into the adjacent austenite grains through a γ→(DO3+ K-phase) transition. © 1991.
