AbstractVarious kinds of information generated in different disciplines and point-to-point information exchanges between separated applications frequently cause difficulties in sharing the information sets between stakeholders to conduct activities throughout the lifecycle of a facility. Furthermore, despite the growing use of BIM-based tools for relatively new building construction projects, the state-of-the-art technology has not been fully utilized throughout the lifecycle of a building: Plan, Design, Construction, Operations and Maintenance, and Refurbishment. This presentation introduces the concept of building information modeling and sets out studies and intelligent platform development to address the essential challenges in order to support seamless information exchanges and information utilization throughout the lifecycle of a building, focusing on energy efficient building design, and operations and maintenance.
