AbstractA numerical study of the interaction of two weakly coaxial perturbed vortex rings with different initial separations, λ = 1R(T) and λ = 1.25R(T) is reported. The thin vortex ring is modelled by using a slender vortex filament in unbounded space, which ignores the role of the core structure dynamics during the vortex evolution. The model is to investigate the effect of weak three dimensional perturbation on the slip through of two coaxial vortex rings. Results show that the change of the growth of the weak perturbations and the stability during the slip through process.
